Dogs Seeing the World, Through their Nose

What is AKC Tracking?

AKC Tracking is an amazing canine sport that demonstrates a dog's natural ability to recognize and follow a scent. Dogs follow a track to locate an articles along the way with the prize being a leather article, usually a glove, while allowing them to use their powerful sense of smell.

The sport of AKC Tracking is open to most any dog that is more than 6 months old: old dogs, young dogs, big dogs, little dogs, purebreds and mixed breeds. Deaf and physically challenged dogs can enter tracking tests too!

AKC Tracking classes will be offered in the Spring and Fall.

The class will cover "getting started", rules / regulations, articles, and laying your own tracks.

The class is 4 weeks.

This class will also be a prerequisite to the Tracking Club which meets once a month.

What the dog sees and knows comes through his nose,” affirms Barnard College professor Alexandra Horowitz

The chance to smell provides your dog with important information and essential mental stimulation. So, now that you appreciate your dog’s need to sniff, how can you better meet your pet’s needs and positively channel those urges? Come join a nature walk with a twist

Sniffing Walks with Friends class will be offered May through September.

This class will be held once a week, weather permitting.
